Star Council Award

        October 21, 2010

Brothers,

We have had the honor to receive the Double Star Council Award for the Fraternal Year 2009-2010, which also happens to have been our Charter Year.  Through much hard work, and dedication and a call to share our time, talent and treasure, we have been recognized by the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus for our efforts.  The evening of Wednesday October 20, 2010 was a great night in the history of HGA Council #14847, as District Deputy Joe Pascuzzi presented this award to newly elected Grand Knight Lynn Adams.  As Grand Knight at the inception of Council 14847, and now "Past Grand Knight", it was an honor to serve such hard working men who helped to show that together we can nake a change.  I thank all of you for helping me change my life this past year.  This council has broadened our perspectives and allowed us to get involved with others that we would have otherwise probably never crossed paths with.
From what I have found out from Council 14573, there were only 500 Double Star Awards given out from over 14000 councils.  This is truly a momentous occasion that we should all be very proud of.  This is an attribute of what we can achieve together as a Knights of Columbus council, with our constant striving to be a better council and with the support of good friends and family.  Again, it was an honor to serve you in our first year and a blessing to meet all of you.  We expect great things from ourselves.

About this award

The Star Council Award represents a council's success as a Knights of Columbus affiliate.  The Star Council Award recognizes a council that has met ALL of the goals set by the Knights of Columbus Supreme Council.  And since the Knights of Columbus demands excellence, this is one of the highest awards that a council can achieve.  Essentially it is the goal of every council go go above and beyond the requirements of this award.  It is our goal, and should be the goal of every council, to strive to achieve this award on an annual basis.  The Star council Award requirement is for a minimum of 5 new members for a council with memberships of 30 to 100 members.
In order to qualify for the Star Council Award a council must earn the Columbian Award (Service Programs), the Father McGivney Award (Membership), AND the Founder's Award (Insurance).
To obtain the Double Star Award a council must go a step above and beyond the Star Award by doubling the number of new members required for the Star Council Award.
