Council Accomplishments

Official recognition by the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus - September 2009
Charter Mass for Knights and their families (held January 24, 2010 10am)
As of the start of January 2011 HGA Council 14847 had 68 members with 3 prospective members
Received the Double Star Council Award (OCTOBER 2010) which recognizes outstanding achievement in membership, insurance and service program activities. To be eligible for the Star Council Award, a council must qualify for ALL of the three other awards listed below.
  • The Columbian Award (four major programs in each of the Service Program categories: Church, Community, Council, Family, Pro-life, and Youth)
  • Father McGivney Award (for membership increase)
  • Founder’s Award (for Insurance Members)

  • Reception honoring HGA priests commemorating “Year of the Priest”
  • Volunteer efforts in conjunction with Knights of Columbus Council #793 Reading
    • Kennedy House Soup Kitchen
    • ARC Program donation solicitation at Temple Walmart
    • Knoebel’s Amusement Park summer outing
  • 7 Breakfast Bonanzas serving upwards of 200 parishoners and friends at each event (As of February 2011) 
    • Knights, some of their wives, along with many parish youth worked hand-in-hand to pull everything together
  • In May 2010 twelve HGA Knights received their 4th Degree status
  • Twenty-three of our members are 4th Degree Knights or about 33%
  • HGA Knights actively involved with the Knights of Columbus Color Corps
